My Home Away From Home
- on TripAdvisor
I truly enjoy my room, amenities, friends I have made with staff and management, and the feeling of cozy comfort and security. I tease Ricky on the front desk that he is my best friend in Atlanta, because he was my first friend there when my daughter came to Emory. He and the rest of the staff are very helpful and make every effort to assist me with any concerns or needs I may experience whenever I stay. I have come to stay many times, and I feel right at home! The last time I came, I brought a family member with some special needs. When we checked in, Ricky extended a special courtesy to her that made us more comfortable. Thoughtfulness is practiced as routine at the University Inn!
I like to stay in the "Guest House" of the Inn, where the rooms seem to be from an old home or apartment. There is a fireplace and two comfortable chairs in the large bedroom, and there is a nice little eat-in kitchen, a bath and small dressing area. The kitchen includes table and chairs, stove, sink, refrigerator, microwave, cabinets, china, silver, and enough cookware and utensils for limited meal preparation. We cook a meal together each time I visit! I have found the housekeepers to be friendly, pleasant, and able to keep your room clean and you comfortable in every way! A very nice breakfast is served each morning in the comfortable lobby, which is very like a room in someone's home. There is always something to be found there for a light snack, and in the afternoon there are cookies and often the owners are serving and chatting with guests!
I enjoy walking in the neighborhood along curving historic streets with picturesque homes and gardens. The inn is located in a safe neighborhood just across the street from Emory, which is also a wonderful place to walk. (Emory's athletic facilities are available to University Inn's guests by daily passes, too.) The community is charming, and there are lovely restaurants and shops in nearby Decatur and Emory Village. This part of town is surrounded by other charming neighborhoods, shopping, and easy access to downtown Atlanta. Driving is not "frightening" as I thought it might be when I first visited! The front desk has driving directions and information about places to visit or how to find the places you need to go! (The University Inn at Emory has a website with photos and information.)
I really can't say enough nice things about The University Inn at Emory! They truly are friends who welcome me back every time I come, and I am glad to see each of them, too!
The University Inn is a small Inn across from the Emory University Campus, which prides itself on offering visitors a safe haven for travel. (404) 465-3549
